My friend’s son came home from school one day. “Dad, my teacher is an idiot,” the kid said. “She teaches the same thing over and over. When we all understand it the first time.” Now, my friend’s kid is special. He’s very bright. But, not wise enough yet to see what people need to actually get your point. – If you want to get a message across to people, you can’t just say it once. Or even twice. Most of the world doesn’t understand stuff all that quickly. So, when trying to teach or explain, be prepared to repeat yourself repeatedly. – Remember when Mark Zuckerberg did that whole media blitz, changing the company to “Meta”? It was weird. Like, “Who cares?!” When asked, Mark said that he was doing the media to reach his own employees. It wasn’t for the public. He could only reach his whole (huge) team by overwhelming them with the message. – If you’re a CEO, be prepared to repeat the same message a dozen times. Or more. Until you’re absolutely sick of it. To you, you’ll feel crazy repeating the same thing so much. But you have no choice if you want to align your whole team around your message. Michael
